I heard this morning (while late for work and trying to coax a cat out from under my bed) that I'm one of 6 selected to head to the Show Me Shorts/Script-to-Screen Short Film Lab in Auckland later this month. Super stoked!
The website says:
During the course of the full-day lab hosted by the University of Auckland, the selected participants will work intensively to develop their ideas for new short films, with help from experienced industry practitioners who have excelled in short filmmaking,including producer/director Paul Swadel (Poppy, Infection, Accidents), screenwriter and academic Shuchi Kothari (Firaaq, Apron Strings, Coffee and Allah), and animator/directorJames Cunningham(Das Tub, Poppy, Infection).

This is an awesome opportunity and I'm going to go, learn cool stuff, and bring back the info for my cohorts so we can all make better films. Now to figure out how I'm getting to Auckland! Perhaps I will hitchhike in an emu truck.
